Banfield 0-2 Gimnasia: Visitors claim a clean sheet road win

Banfield were defeated at home by Gimnasia La Plata at Florencio Sola on Sunday. Banfield arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 1-0 to Vélez Sarsfield in their last match. Gimnasia had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Barracas C. Banfield and Gimnasia currently occupy 24th and 5th spots in the league, with 26 points and 40 points respectively after 24 matches.

Gimnasia started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to a goal from Erik Ramirez on the 9 minute mark. Gimnasia then scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Brahian Aleman just before half-time, concluding the first half 2-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Banfield included Jeremias Perales, Alan Di Pippa, Jose Alvarez, Gregorio Tanco and Maximiliano Cuadra for Andres Chavez, Mauricio Cuero, Aaron Quiros, Matias Romero and Julian Palacios, respectively. Gimnasia replaced Alexis Steimbach, Nery Leyes, Emanuel Cecchini and Alexis Dominguez with Erik Ramirez, Benjamin Dominguez, Brahian Aleman and Franco Soldano.

There were bookings for Aaron Quiros and Alejandro Maciel from Banfield, and Guillermo Enrique, Oscar Piris and Ramon Sosa, for Gimnasia.

Banfield will next play Aldosivi away, with Gimnasia facing San Lorenzo at home.
