U. Católica 1-0 Huachipato: Hosts hang on for a narrow success

U. Católica enjoyed a home victory against Huachipato on Thursday. U. Católica were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches against La Serena away and Univ de Chile away, by 4-0 and 3-0 respectively whilst Huachipato had secured a point against Everton Viña del Mar in their previous match. U. Católica are now in 10th place on the table and have 33 points while Huachipato sit in 11th with 29 points after 25 matches.

After a goalless first half, U. Católica piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Fernando Zampedri in the 56th minute, seing the match finish 1-0.

Substitutions for U. Católica included Fabian Orellana and Juan Leiva for Ignacio Saavedra and Cesar Pinares, respectively. Huachipato brought on Walter Mazzantti, Cris Martinez and Marcelo Canete, to replace Antonio Castillo, Maxi Rodriguez and Javier Altamirano.

There were bookings for Branco Ampuero from U. Católica, and Claudio Sepulveda and Javier Altamirano, for Huachipato.

U. Católica will next travel to Colo Colo, while Huachipato will face Antofagasta at home.
