U. Católica 1-0 Cobresal: Last minute winner by Mauricio Isla sinks Cobresal

U. Católica enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Cobresal at San Carlos de Apoquindo on Sunday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. U. Católica were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Palestino. Cobresal, on the other hand, lost 3-2 in the last match they played against Ñublense. As the table looks today, U. Católica are in 9th place in the table and have 25 points while Cobresal sit in 6th with 30 points after 20 matches.

After a goalless first half, U. Católica piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Mauricio Isla just before the final whistle. They managed to see the match out with a clean sheet and a final score of 1-0.

Substitutions for U. Católica included Cesar Pinares, Yamil Asad and German Lanaro for Marcelino Nunez, Gonzalo Tapia and Jose Pedro Fuenzalida, repectively. Cobresal brought on Juan Gaete and Nelson Sepulveda, to replace Cesar Munder and Cristopher Mesias.

There were bookings for Ignacio Saavedra, Mauricio Isla and Fernando Zampedri from U. Católica. For Cobresal, Alejandro Camargo and Guillermo Pacheco saw yellow.

U. Católica will next play Everton Viña del Mar away, with Cobresal facing La Serena at home.
