O’Higgins eased past Cobresal in a 1-0 victory on Saturday at El Teniente. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. O’Higgins were on the hunt for more points following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Unión Española in their previous game. Cobresal, meanwhile, were unable to beat Everton Viña del Mar in a 3-3 draw. O’Higgins and Cobresal are 8th, (38 points) and 6th, (39 points), spots respectively, after 28 matches.

O’Higgins found the net first, thanks to a goal from Facundo Barcelo in the 30th minute to see out the first half 1-0. The second 45 minutes ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

Substitutions for O’Higgins included Esteban Moreira, Facundo Castro and Diego Carreño for Facundo Barcelo, Pablo Hernandez and Matias Donoso, respectively. Cobresal brought on Juan Gaete, Cesar Munder, Pablo Cardenas, Mauro Gonzalez and Oscar Salinas for Nelson Sepulveda, Benjamin Osses, Gaston Lezcano, Guillermo Pacheco and Sebastian Silva.

The referee booked Fabian Hormazabal from O’Higgins and Luis Ureta went off with a red card, while Cobresal’s Sebastian Silva also received a yellow.

O’Higgins will play away against Colo Colo, while Cobresal will face Palestino at home.
