Curicó 1-0 La Serena: Hosts do enough for the win at Estadio La Granja

Curicó Unido’s 1-0 win over La Serena on Sunday, was hard fought at Estadio La Granja. Curicó were on the hunt for more points following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Antofagasta in their previous game. La Serena, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Unión Española. Curicó are currently 2nd with 46 points from 26 matches, while La Serena sit in 14th, with 24 points from 26.

Following a goalless first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Curicó who started the second half strongly, with an early penalty goal from Federico Castro in the 48th minute, seing the match finish 1-0.

Substitutions for Curicó included Felipe Fritz and Mario Sandoval for Federico Castro and Felipe Ortiz, respectively. La Serena replaced Richard Paredes, Maximiliano Guerrero, Cristobal Jorquera, Martin Ramirez and Bryan Soto with Federico Andrada, Santiago Dittborn, Juan Cavallaro, Humberto Suazo and Cristian Erbes.

There were bookings for Ronald de la Fuente from Curicó, and Cristian Erbes, Enzo Ferrario and Jens Buss, for La Serena.

Curicó will next play Colo Colo away, with La Serena facing Univ de Chile at home.
