Cobresal 1 – Palestino 0: Visitors to El Cobre, El Salvador leave with nothing

On Sunday, Palestino suffered an away defeat to Cobresal at El Cobre, El Salvador. Cobresal were looking forward to playing again after losing 1-0 to O’Higgins in their previous fixture. Palestino had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 5-0 victory against La Serena. Cobresal and Palestino currently occupy 4th and 8th spots in the league, with 42 points and 40 points respectively after 29 matches.

Cobresal started the match strongly, when Cristopher Mesias found the net on the 22 minute mark to see out the first half 1-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-0 at full time.

Substitutions for Cobresal included Pablo Cardenas and Sebastian Silva for Mauro Gonzalez and Gaston Lezcano, respectively. Palestino replaced Bryan Carrasco and Jonathan Benitez for Mauro Diaz and Andres Vilches.

Cobresal and Palestino played a rough game where the referee sanctioned Cobresal with yellow cards to Francisco Alarcon, Guillermo Pacheco and Cristopher Mesias and with red card to Alejandro Camargo, while from Palestino Bruno Barticciotto, Agustin Farias, Jonathan Benitez and Franco Pardo were booked and red to Ariel Martinez.

Cobresal will play their next fixture away against Univ de Chile, while Palestino will face Huachipato at home.
