Cobresal 2 – Huachipato 0: Visitors to El Cobre, El Salvador leave with nothing

Cobresal beat Huachipato with a thumping 2-0 victory on Sunday at El Cobre, El Salvador. Cobresal were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last match 3-1 to Coquimbo Unido. Huachipato, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against La Serena. After today’s result, Cobresal and Huachipato currently occupy 8th and 11th spots in the table, with 31 points and 28 points respectively after 23 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Cobresal piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Gaston Lezcano found the net, 77 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Cesar Munder made it 2-0 just before the final whistle to make it 2-0.

Substitutions for Cobresal included Francisco Valdes, Cesar Munder, Ivan Villalba and Pablo Cardenas for Sebastian Silva, Gaston Lezcano, Cecilio Waterman and Nelson Sepulveda, repectively. Huachipato brought on Antonio Castillo, Carlos Lobos, Cris Martinez and Marcelo Canete, to replace Juan Sanchez, Claudio Sepulveda, Nicolas Baeza and Javier Altamirano.

There were bookings for Gaston Lezcano and Francisco Alarcon from Cobresal. For Huachipato, Maxi Rodriguez, Nicolas Baeza, Benjamin Gazzolo and Renzo Malanca saw yellow.

Cobresal will play their next fixture away against Audax Italiano, while Huachipato will face Everton Viña del Mar at home.
