Audax Italiano 2-2 Cobresal: Riveros brace rescues a point for hosts

On Thursday, Audax Italiano and Cobresal played out a 2-2 draw at Estadio Municipal de La Florida. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Audax Italiano were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Unión Española away (3-2), the other to Everton Viña del Mar at home (1-0). Cobresal, meanwhile, were coming off the back of a 2-0 win against Huachipato. Audax Italiano are now in 7th place, with 33 points from 24 matches, while Cobresal sit in 6th, with 34 points from 24.

The first half of the match started well for Cobresal, when Gaston Lezcano found the net in the 29th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Cecilio Waterman on the 39 minute mark to secure a 2-0 win.

Audax Italiano took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Luis Riveros, 71 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Luis Riveros made it 2-2 just before the full time to make it 2-2.

Substitutions for Audax Italiano included Jorge Henriquez, German Estigarribia, Fernando Cornejo, Tomas Andrade and Oliver Rojas for Gonzalo Alvarez, Michael Fuentes, Matias Sepulveda, Osvaldo Bosso and Raul Osorio, respectively. Cobresal replaced Cristopher Mesias, Gaston Lezcano, Juan Gaete, Cecilio Waterman and Nelson Sepulveda for Mauro Gonzalez, Oscar Salinas, Cesar Munder, Pablo Cardenas and Francisco Valdes.

The referee booked six players. Raul Osorio and Matias Sepulveda from Audax Italiano, who saw yellow cards and Diego Torres, sent off with a red, as well as for Cobresal Juan Gaete, Cristopher Mesias and Sebastian Silva also seeing yellows.

Audax Italiano will next travel to Coquimbo Unido, while Cobresal will face Colo Colo at home.
