ASSE on Saturday lost to Reims on a home defeat at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. ASSE were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Nice whilst Reims lost 2-1 in the last match they played against RC Lens. Following today’s result, ASSE and Reims currently occupy 19th and 12th spots in the table, with 31 points and 46 points respectively after 37 matches.

Reims started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Marshall Munetsi in the 2nd minute. However, their lead was short lived, as Eliaquim Mangala equalised for ASSE in the 12th minute to see out the first half 1-1.

The Red and Whites continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Kamory Doumbia finding the net at the 61 minute mark. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

For ASSE, Falaye Sacko, Harold Moukoudi, Enzo Crivelli, Romain Hamouma and Arnaud Nordin, came on for Mickael Nade, Saidou Sow, Ryad Boudebouz, Yvann Macon and Miguel Trauco. Reims replaced Hugo Ekitike, Andrew Gravillon, Maxime Busi, Alexis Flips and Dion Lopy with Ilan Kebbal, Mitchell Van Bergen, Bradley Locko, Andrew Gravillon and El Bilal Toure.

The referee booked Eliaquim Mangala for ASSE.

ASSE will next play Nantes away, with Reims facing Nice at home.
