Rennes 2 – Marseille 0: The Phocaeans unable to avoid defeat at the Roazhon Park

Rennes eased past Olympique de Marseille in a 2-0 victory on Saturday at the Roazhon Park. Rennes were hoping to get something from this game after losing 2-1 to Nantes in their previous fixture. Marseille were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-0 win against FC Lorient in their last match. As it stands, Rennes and Marseille sit 4th, (65 points) and 3rd, (68 points), spots respectively, after 37 matches.
The Rennais dominated the first half, thanks to Benjamin Bourigeaud giving Rennes the lead at the 12 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Lovro Majer at the 35 minute mark to see out the first half 2-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 2-0 at full time.
For Rennes, Lorenz Assignon, Sehrou Guirassy, Jonas Martin, Birger Meling and Lesley Ugochukwu, came on for Benjamin Bourigeaud, Gaetan Laborde, Flavien Tait, Adrien Truffert and Martin Terrier. Marseille brought on Bamba Dieng and Pol Lirola, to replace Duje Caleta-Car and Pape Alassane Gueye.
