Rennes 2 – Monaco 3: The Monégasques ease past The Rennais at the Roazhon Park

Rennes were defeated at home by AS Mónaco at the Roazhon Park on Friday. Both Rennes and Monaco arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Rennes were looking to pick up points, following a 3-2 victory against Reims while Monaco were coming from consecutive wins against Troyes and FC Metz. As it stands, Rennes are in 3rd place on the table and has 56 points while Monaco sit in 4th with 53 points after 32 matches.

Rennes started the first half well, with an early goal from Flavien Tait in the 3rd minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Vanderson equalised for Monaco, 12 minutes in. The score at half time was 1-1.

Monaco continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Wissam Ben Yedder in the 57th minute. The Monégasques looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Myron Boadu at the 77 minute mark to establish a 3-1. In the end though, The Rennais hit back though just before the final whistle, with a penalty goal from Martin Terrier and seeing the game end 3-2.

For Rennes, Adrien Truffert, Sehrou Guirassy, Lorenz Assignon and Loum Tchaouna, came on for Birger Meling, Gaetan Laborde, Hamari Traore and Lovro Majer. Monaco replaced Myron Boadu, Ismail Jakobs and Sofiane Diop with Wissam Ben Yedder, Aleksandr Golovin and Vanderson.

There were bookings for Warmed Omari from Rennes, and Vanderson, Benoit Badiashile and Caio Henrique, for Monaco.

Rennes will next travel to RC Strasburg, while Monaco will face Nice at home.
