Rennes 2-1 Ajaccio: The Rennais celebrate win at Roazhon Park

Rennes beated AC Ajaccio 2-1 on Sunday at Roazhon Park. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Rennes arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against AS Mónaco. Ajaccio are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. As things stand, Rennes are in 10th place, with 4 points from 3 matches, while Ajaccio sit in 18th, with 1 point from 3.

Rennes started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Martin Terrier gave The Rennais the lead, 18 minutes in, saw out the first half 1-0.

Ajaccio took the initiative in the second half, thanks to a goal from Mounaim El Idrissy, 57 minutes in. Rennes in turn, then responded at the 62 minute mark increasing their lead with an effort from Arthur Theate. The match ended with a 2-1 win for Rennes.

Substitutions for Rennes included Desire Doue, Jeremy Doku, Kamal-Deen Sulemana, Lesley Ugochukwu and Matthis Abline for Benjamin Bourigeaud, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Gaetan Laborde, Flavien Tait and Martin Terrier, repectively. The referee booked eight players. Loic Bade, Romain Salin, Baptiste Santamaria and Desire Doue from Rennes, who saw yellow cards and Romain Salin (2 yellow cards) and Lesley Ugochukwu, sent off with a red, as well as for Ajaccio Mounaim El Idrissy and Fernand Mayembo received yellows.

Rennes will next travel to RC Lens, while Ajaccio will face Lille at home.
