Reims 2 – Rennes 3: The Red and Whites suffer home defeat to The Rennais

Rennes beat Reims with a thumping 3-2 victory on Saturday at the Stade Auguste Delaune. Reims were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last game 1-0 to Troyes. Rennes had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Nice. As the table looks today, Reims and Rennes sit 13th, (36 points) and 2nd, (56 points), in the league respectively, after 31 matches.
Rennes started the game well, with Benjamin Bourigeaud giving Rennes the lead at the 39 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a 2nd effort from Benjamin Bourigeaud just before half-time. The score at half time was 0-2.
The Rennais continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Martin Terrier finding the net, at 58 minutes. However, The Red and Whites weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Maxime Busi in the 60th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Jens-Lys Cajuste made it 3-2 at the 81 minute mark to make it 3-2.
For Reims, Jens-Lys Cajuste, Bradley Locko, Moussa Doumbia and Ilan Kebbal, came on for Nathanael Mbuku, Valon Berisha, Mitchell Van Bergen and Dion Lopy. Rennes brought on Flavien Tait, Lorenz Assignon, Sehrou Guirassy, Birger Meling and Lesley Ugochukwu for Lovro Majer, Hamari Traore, Gaetan Laborde, Martin Terrier and Benjamin Bourigeaud.
The referee booked Marshall Munetsi and Maxime Busi for Reims.
Reims will next travel to Montpellier, while Rennes will face AS Mónaco at home.
