Reims 2-4 Clermont 4: Lancers triumph in six-goal thriller at Reims

Reims fell to a home defeat at the hands of Clermont Foot at the Stade Auguste Delaune on Sunday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Reims arrived at the match looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Olympique de Marseille. Cleermont lost 5-0 in the last match they played against Paris Saint-Germain. As things stand, Reims are in 20th place in the table and have 0 points while Cleermont sit in 10th with 3 points after 2 matches.

The Red and Whites started strongly in the first half, when Kamory Doumbia gave Reims the lead at the 23 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Folarin Balogun, 30 minutes in, ending the first half 2-0.

Cleermont staged a comeback in the second half, thanks to a goal from Komnen Andric, at 51 minutes. Cleermont looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a 2nd effort from Komnen Andric, at 62 minutes to establish a 2-2. The momentum was now with Cleermont, who then scored again through a goal from Muhammed-Cham Saracevic at the 72 minute mark to establish a 3-2. However they weren’t finished yet and Jeremie Bela made it 4-2 at the 77 minute mark to make it 4-2.

Substitutions for Reims included Dion Lopy, Martin Adeline, El Bilal Toure and Junya Ito for Kamory Doumbia, Folarin Balogun, Maxime Busi and Azor Matusiwa, repectively. Cleermont replaced Jeremie Bela, Saif-Eddine Khaoui, Grejohn Kyei, Jason Berthomier and Brandon Baiye with Elbasan Rashani, Jim Allevinah, Komnen Andric, Muhammed-Cham Saracevic and Johan Gastien.

The referee booked seven players. Folarin Balogun, Mitchell Van Bergen and Andrew Gravillon from Reims, who saw yellow cards and Emmanuel Agbadou, sent off with a red, as well as for Cleermont Florent Ogier, Yohann Magnin and Johan Gastien received yellows.

Reims will play their next fixture away against RC Strasburg, while Cleermont will face Nice at home.
