RCSA 1-3 Rennes: Strasbourg slump to home defeat

Rennes beated RC Strasburg 3-1 on Saturday at the Stade de La Meinau. RCSA were looking forward to playing again after losing their last match 2-1 to Montpellier. Rennes had secured a point against Olympique de Marseille in their previous match. RCSA are now in 18th place, with 5 points from 9 matches, while Rennes sit in 5th, with 15 points from 9.

The Rennais started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Arnaud Kalimuendo found the net on the 38 minute mark and saw the first half out 1-0.

Rennes staged a comeback in the second half, with an early goal from Martin Terrier in the 49th minute. The momentum was again with Rennes, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Amine Gouiri on the 61 minute mark to establish a 3-0 result. In the end though, RCSA hit back though, at 72 minutes, with a goal from Habib Diallo. The match ended 3-1.

Substitutions for RCSA included Diarra Mouhamadou, Karol Fila, Lucas Perrin, Thomas Delaine and Nordin Kandil for Ibrahima Sissoko, Colin Dagba, Sanjin Prcic, Dimitri Lienard and Kevin Gameiro, respectively. Rennes brought on Lovro Majer, Jeremy Doku, Birger Meling, Lorenz Assignon and Matthis Abline for Arnaud Kalimuendo, Benjamin Bourigeaud, Adrien Truffert, Martin Terrier and Amine Gouiri.

The referee booked Hamari Traore and Lovro Majer for Rennes and Gerzino Nyamsi saw the red card, for RCSA.

RCSA will play away against Angers SCO, while Rennes will face Nantes at home.
