PSG enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Olympique de Marseille at the Parc des Princes on Sunday. Both teams arrived at the challenge after previous wins. PSG were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Clermont Foot away (6-1), the other to FC Lorient at home (5-1). Marseille were coming from consecutive wins against Montpellier and Saint-Étienne. After today’s result, PSG and Marseille currently occupy 1st and 2nd spots in the table, with 74 points and 59 points respectively after 32 matches.

Les Parisiens started strongly in the first half, with a goal from Neymar in the 12th minute. Marseille then went on to level the score at 1-1, at 31 minutes, thanks to a goal from Duje Caleta-Car. PSG managed to edge ahead with a penalty goal from Kylian Mbappe just before half-time, finalising the first half 2-1. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 2-1.

For PSG, Georginio Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos and Mauro Icardi, came on for Idrissa Gueye, Marco Verratti and Kylian Mbappe. Marseille brought on Amine Harit, Pol Lirola, Bamba Dieng and Cedric Bakambu, to replace Cengiz Under, Valentin Rongier, Pape Alassane Gueye and Duje Caleta-Car.

There were bookings for Marco Verratti, Nuno Mendes, Idrissa Gueye, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG. For Marseille, Gerson saw yellow.
