PSG 5-2 Montpellier: Neymar brace helps PSG to big home win

Paris Saint-Germain on a 5-2 win against Montpellier on Saturday at the Parc des Princes. Both PSG and Montpellier arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. PSG were looking to continue their run after winning last match. Montpellier were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-2 win against Troyes in their last match. At the moment, both teams are on 3 points and occupy 3rd and 6th places respectively after 2 matches.

PSG started strongly in the first half, when Falaye Sacko opened the rout at the 39 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Neymar made it 2-0 just before halftime, concluding the first half 2-0.

Les Parisiens started the second half with an intensified spirit, when Neymar found the net again in the 51st minute. However, La Paillade weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Wahbi Khazri, 58 minutes in. However, PSG increased their advantage 4-1 thanks to a goal from Kylian Mbappe, 69 minutes in. The momentum was now with PSG, who then scored again through a goal from Renato Sanches, 87 minutes in to establish a 5-1. In the end though, Montpellier secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Enzo Tchato just before the final whistle. The match ended with a 5-2 home victory.

Substitutions for PSG included Leandro Paredes, Renato Sanches, Nordi Mukiele, Pablo Sarabia and Hugo Ekitike for Vitinha, Marco Verratti, Achraf Hakimi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, repectively. Montpellier replaced Faitout Maouassa, Wahbi Khazri, Sepe Elye Wahi, Joris Chotard and Teji Savanier for Arnaud Souquet, Valere Germain, Mamadou Sakho, Leo Leroy and Khalil Fayad.

There were bookings for Presnel Kimpembe and Vitinha from PSG, and Sepe Elye Wahi, for Montpellier.

PSG will next play Lille away, with Montpellier facing Auxerre at home.
