Marseille 0 – Lens 1: Blood and Gold cruise past The Phocaeans at home

Marseille on Saturday lost to RC Lens on a home defeat at Orange Velodrome. Marseille were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 1-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in their previous fixture while Lens were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Montpellier. Marseille are now in 4th place, with 23 points from 12 matches, while Lens sit in 2nd, with 27 points from 12.

After an uneventful first half, Blood and Gold continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when David Pereira Da Costa found the net, 78 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Marseille included Pape Alassane Gueye, Cengiz Under, Bamba Dieng, Dimitri Payet and Issa Kabore for Sead Kolasinac, Amine Harit, Alexis Sanchez, Matteo Guendouzi and Jonathan Clauss, respectively. Lens replaced David Pereira Da Costa, Wesley Said and Ismael Boura with Jean Onana, Lois Openda and Deiver Machado.

There were bookings for Sead Kolasinac, Valentin Rongier and Matteo Guendouzi from Marseille, and Florian Sotoca, Jean Onana and Massadio Haidara, for Lens.

Marseille will play their next game away against RC Strasburg, while Lens will face Tolouse FC at home.
