Marseille 0 – Lyon 3: The Kids seal win as The Phocaeans are left stunned

Lyon strolled past Olympique de Marseille with a 3-0 win on Sunday at the Orange Velodrome. Both Marseille and Lyon arrived on the back of wins. Marseille had been hopeful of continuing their run after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Reims away (1-0), the other to Nantes at home (3-2). Lyon were looking to extend their winning run after a 5-2 victory against Montpellier. As it stands, Marseille and Lyon currently occupy 2nd and 7th spots in the league, with 65 points and 55 points respectively after 35 matches.
After an un-eventful first half, The Kids certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with a goal from Castello Lukeba in the 55th minute. Lyon looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Moussa Dembele at the 76 minute mark to establish a 2-0. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Karl Toko Ekambi just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-0.
For Marseille, Matteo Guendouzi, Bamba Dieng, Amine Harit, Cedric Bakambu and Valentin Rongier, came on for Sead Kolasinac, Cengiz Under, Pape Alassane Gueye, Arkadiusz Milik and Gerson. Lyon brought on Tanguy Ndombele, Tete, Romain Faivre, Henrique Silva and Jeff Reine-Adelaide, to replace Jerome Boateng, Bradley Barcola, Houssem Aouar, Lucas Paqueta and Karl Toko Ekambi.
There were bookings for Pau Lopez and Pape Alassane Gueye from Marseille, and Moussa Dembele, for Lyon.
Lyon and Marseille will next play away to FC Metz and FC Lorient respectively.
