Nice 4 – ASSE 2: The Eagles take all 3 points at Allianz Rivera

Nice’s 4-2 win over Saint-Étienne on Wednesday, was hard fought at Allianz Rivera. Nice were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Bordeaux away and Troyes at home, by 1-0 and 1-0 respectively while ASSE lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Rennes. After today’s result, Nice and ASSE currently occupy 4th and 18th spots in the table, with 63 points and 31 points respectively after 36 matches.

ASSE dominated the first half, with a goal from Denis Bouanga in the 11th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Zaydou Youssouf made it 2-0 just before half-time to secure a 0-2 win.

The Eagles started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, thanks to Melvin Bard finding the net, at 52 minutes. The momentum was now with Nice, who then scored again through a goal from Andy Delort at the 60 minute mark to establish a 2-2. Nice looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a second effort from Andy Delort after 62 minutes to establish a 3-2. They then extended the lead with a goal from Hicham Boudaoui, at 80 minutes to make it 4-2.

For Nice, Evann Guessand, Morgan Schneiderlin, Hicham Boudaoui, Jordan Amavi and Calvin Stengs, came on for Amine Gouiri, Mario Lemina, Billal Brahimi, Melvin Bard and Justin Kluivert. ASSE replaced Ryad Boudebouz, Arnaud Nordin, Zaydou Youssouf, Yvann Macon and Denis Bouanga for Adil Aouchiche, Enzo Crivelli, Aimen Moueffek, Sada Thioub and Romain Hamouma.

There were bookings for Flavius Daniliuc and Justin Kluivert from Nice. For ASSE, Yvann Macon, Eliaquim Mangala and Harold Moukoudi saw yellow.

Nice next face Lille and ASSE are at home to Reims.
