On Wednesday, Rennes suffer an away defeat to Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire. Nantes wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 2-2 draw with RC Lens in their previous game. Rennes were coming from consecutive wins against Saint-Étienne and FC Lorient. As it stands, Nantes and Rennes currently occupy 9th and 5th spots in the table, with 54 points and 62 points respectively after 36 matches.

The Rennais dominated the first half, with Flavien Tait finding the net, 32 minutes in. However, their lead was short lived, as Kalifa Coulibaly equalised for Nantes just before half-time, which saw the first half end 1-1.

The Yellow House rallied after this and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Nicolas Pallois at the 71 minute mark. The game ended with a 2-1 home victory.

For Nantes, Quentin Merlin, Dennis Appiah, Randal Kolo Muani and Marcus Coco, came on for Willem Geubbels, Osman Bukari, Wylan Cyprien and Kalifa Coulibaly. Rennes brought on Birger Meling, Sehrou Guirassy, Jeremy Doku, Mathys Tel and Lesley Ugochukwu, to replace Adrien Truffert, Lovro Majer, Gaetan Laborde, Benjamin Bourigeaud and Jonas Martin.

There were bookings for Wylan Cyprien and Ludovic Blas from Nantes. For Rennes, Flavien Tait saw yellow.

Nantes will next travel to Lyon, while Rennes will face Olympique de Marseille at home.
