Montpellier 3-2 Troyes: La Paillade find a late winner to take maximum points

Troyes open Ligue 1 season with a defeat against Montpellier. Today’s result, Montpellier are in 3rd place, with 3 points from 1 match, while Troyes sit in 15th, with 0 points from 1.

Montpellier dominated the first half, with an early goal from Theo Sainte-Luce in the 3rd minute. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Florian Tardieu managed to equalize and take the sides off, 12 minutes in at 1-1. However, each side looked hungry to win and La Paillade then found the back of the net in the 15th minute thanks to Teji Savanier, taking the score to 2-1. However, their lead was short lived, as Mama Balde equalised for Troyes in the 17th minute. The first half ended 2-2.

Montpellier continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Teji Savanier found the net again in the 81st minute, leaving the final score at 3-2.

Substitutions for Montpellier included Beni Makouana, Leo Leroy, Maxime Esteve, Nicolas Cozza and Arnaud Souquet for Stephy Mavididi, Faitout Maouassa, Mamadou Sakho, Theo Sainte-Luce and Sepe Elye Wahi, repectively. Troyes brought on Kyliane Dong and Wilson Odobert for Yasser Larouci and Erik Palmer-Brown.

The referee booked Beni Makouana for Montpellier.

In the second round of action in the Ligue 1 Montpellier will travel to play Paris Saint-Germain and Troyes will play Tolouse FC at home.
