Montpellier 1 – Brest 2: Visitors deliver victory against La Paillade

Brest strolled past Montpellier with a 2-1 win on Sunday at the Stade de la Mosson. Montpellier were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match. Brest, on the other hand, were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Angers SCO. After today’s result, Montpellier are in 11th place on the table and has 41 points while Brest sit in 12th with 38 points after 30 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Brest continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Martin Satriano, 69 minutes in. The Pirates looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Franck Honorat in the 79th minute to establish a 2-0. In the end though, La Paillade hit back though just before the final whistle, with a penalty goal from Teji Savanier and seeing the game end 2-1.

For Montpellier, Leo Leroy, Sepe Elye Wahi, Nicholas Gioacchini, Sacha Delaye and Beni Makouana, came on for Joris Chotard, Florent Mollet, Junior Sambia, Valere Germain and Stephy Mavididi. Brest replaced Martin Satriano and Romain Del Castillo for Steve Mounie and Lucien Agoume.

There were bookings for Stephy Mavididi and Mamadou Sakho from Montpellier, and Martin Satriano, Christophe Herelle, Brendan Chardonnet and Lilian Brassier, for Brest.

Montpellier will next travel to Olympique de Marseille, while Brest will face Nantes at home.
