Montpellier 0-2 Monaco: La Paillade sunk at home by Monaco

Montpellier were defeated at home by AS Mónaco at the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday. Montpellier were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 4-2 to Tolouse FC in their previous fixture whilst Monaco were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Nantes and Reims. Montpellier are now in 10th place on the table and have 12 points while Monaco sit in 5th with 20 points after 10 matches.

Monaco started the first half well, when Breel Embolo gave them the lead just before half-time to see out the first half 1-0.

The Monégasques continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Myron Boadu found the net on the 80 minute mark, seing the match finish 2-0.

Substitutions for Montpellier included Wahbi Khazri, Faitout Maouassa, Falaye Sacko, Valere Germain and Khalil Fayad for Stephy Mavididi, Arnaud Nordin, Enzo Tchato, Jordan Ferri and Joris Chotard, respectively. Monaco brought on Krepin Diatta, Myron Boadu, Ismail Jakobs and Takumi Minamino, to replace Maghnes Akliouche, Breel Embolo, Caio Henrique and Wissam Ben Yedder.

There were bookings for Maxime Esteve and Christopher Jullien from Montpellier. For Monaco, Caio Henrique, Benoit Badiashile and Mohamed Camara saw yellow.

Montpellier will next play RC Lens away, with Monaco facing Clermont Foot at home.
