Lyon 3 – Angers 2: Narrow victory for The Kids at home to Le SCO

Lyon strolled past Angers SCO with a 3-2 win on Sunday at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais. Lyon wanted to improve their league standing after a scoreless draw against Reims in their previous match. Angers, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Brest. Following today’s result, Lyon and Angers currently occupy 9th and 14th spots in the table, with 45 points and 32 points respectively after 30 matches.

Lyon started the first half well, with Moussa Dembele giving The Kids the lead, 26 minutes in. The score at half time was 1-0.

Le SCO started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, thanks to an early goal from Mathias Pereira Lage in the 50th minute. However, each side looked hungry to win and Lyon then found the back of the net, 52 minutes in thanks to Moussa Dembele, taking the score to 2-1. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Sofiane Boufal managed to equalize and take the sides off at the 59 minute mark at 2-2. Lyon in turn, then responded, 80 minutes in increasing their lead with an effort from Tete, leaving the final score at 3-2.

For Lyon, Tino Kadewere, Henrique Silva and Tete, came on for Jerome Boateng, Emerson and Tanguy Ndombele. Angers replaced Angelo Fulgini, Pierrick Capelle, Stephane Bahoken, Sofiane Boufal and Mathias Pereira Lage for Mohamed-Ali Cho, Azzedine Ounahi, Marin Jakolis, Casimir Ninga and Abdoulaye Bamba.

There were bookings for Henrique Silva from Lyon, and Souleyman Doumbia, for Angers.

Lyon will next play RC Strasburg away, with Angers facing Lille at home.
