Lorient 0 – Marseille 3: The Merlucciidaes left stunned by marauding visitors

Olympique de Marseille snatched all three points from FC Lorient in a 3-0 victory on Sunday, at the Stade Yves Allainmat. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Lorient were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 2-1 to Reims. Marseille, on the other hand, lost 3-0 in the last match they played against Lyon. As things stand, Lorient are currently 17th with 34 points from 36 matches, while Marseille sit in 2nd, with 68 points from 36.
Marseille started strongly in the first half, with Bamba Dieng opening the rout, 39 minutes in, ending the first half 0-1.
The Phocaeans staged a comeback in the second half, with an early goal from Matteo Guendouzi in the 48th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Gerson made it 3-0 in the 67th minute to make it 3-0.
For Lorient, Thomas Monconduit, Dango Ouattara, Ibrahima Kone, Bonke Innocent and Quentin Boisgard, came on for Fabien Lemoine, Igor Silva, Terem Moffi, Laurent Abergel and Armand Lauriente. Marseille brought on Bamba Dieng, Sead Kolasinac, Luis Henrique and Pol Lirola, to replace Cedric Bakambu, Duje Caleta-Car, Bamba Dieng and Gerson.
There were bookings for Fabien Lemoine from Lorient, and William Saliba, for Marseille.
Marseille and Lorient will next play away to Rennes and Bordeaux respectively.
