Brest 0-7 Montpellier: Home side humiliated by La Paillade

Montpellier eased past Brest in a 7-0 victory on Sunday at the Stade Francis-Le Blé. Brest were looking to pick up points, following a 3-1 victory against Angers SCO. Montpellier were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Auxerre. After today’s result, Brest and Montpellier currently occupy 14th and 7th spots in the table, with 4 points and 6 points respectively after 4 matches.

It was an impressive opening from La Paillade, when Faitout Maouassa opened the rout early in the first half. The momentum was now with Montpellier, who then scored again through a goal from Sepe Elye Wahi at the 10 minute mark to establish a 2-0. Substitutions for Brest included Islam Slimani, Mahdi Camara, Franck Honorat, Karamoko Dembele and Jere Uronen for Jeremy Le Douaron, Lilian Brassier, Hugo Magnetti, Youcef Belaili and Mathias Pereira Lage, repectively. Montpellier brought on Valere Germain, Maxime Esteve, Arnaud Souquet, Leo Leroy and Beni Makouana for Wahbi Khazri, Nicolas Cozza, Faitout Maouassa, Arnaud Nordin and Sepe Elye Wahi.

The referee booked Arnaud Nordin and Leo Leroy for Montpellier and Pierre Lees-Melou saw the red card, for Brest.

Brest will next travel to Rennes, while Montpellier will face AC Ajaccio at home.
