Brest 2 – Cleermont 0: Visitors unable to get win at the Stade Francis-Le Blé

Brest beat Clermont Foot with a thumping 2-0 victory on Sunday at the Stade Francis-Le Blé. Brest were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the FC Metz away (1-0), the other to Lyon at home (2-1). Cleermont, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Angers SCO. Following today’s result, Brest are in 11th place on the table and has 48 points while Cleermont sit in 17th with 33 points after 35 matches.

After a goalless first half, Brest piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Lilian Brassier giving Brest the lead at the 60 minute mark. The Pirates then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Steve Mounie, 62 minutes in with a final score of 2-0.

For Brest, Irvin Cardona, Hugo Magnetti and Rafiki Said, came on for Youcef Belaili, Martin Satriano and Steve Mounie. Cleermont brought on Salis Abdul Samed, Saif-Eddine Khaoui, Jim Allevinah, Alidu Seidu and Grejohn Kyei, to replace Yohann Magnin, Lucas Da Cunha, Elbasan Rashani, Florent Ogier and Jodel Dossou.

The referee booked five players. Youcef Belaili and Rafiki Said from Brest, who saw yellow cards and Romain Del Castillo, sent off with a red, as well as for Cleermont Florent Ogier and Vital N’Simba also seeing yellows.

Cleermont and Brest will next play at home to Montpellier and RC Strasburg respectively.
