Monaco 2 – Troyes 1: Visitors to the Stade Louis II leave with nothing

AS Mónaco’s 2-1 win over Troyes on Sunday, was hard fought at the Stade Louis II. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Monaco were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the FC Metz away (2-1), the other to Paris Saint-Germain at home (3-0). Troyes had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 1-0 victory against Reims. As it stands, Monaco are in 6th place on the table and has 50 points while Troyes sit in 15th with 32 points after 31 matches.

The Monégasques started strongly in the first half, thanks to Caio Henrique giving Monaco the lead, 19 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Ike Ugbo equalised for Troyes in the 39th minute, finalising the first half 1-1.

Monaco continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Kevin Volland giving Monaco the lead, 57 minutes in. The game ended 2-1 to Monaco.

For Monaco, Kevin Volland, Sofiane Diop, Ismail Jakobs, Jean Lucas and Chrislain Matsima, came on for Myron Boadu, Aleksandr Golovin, Caio Henrique, Vanderson and Wissam Ben Yedder. Troyes brought on Lebo Mothiba, Yasser Larouci, Renaud Ripart, Yoann Touzghar and Tristan Dingome, to replace Mama Balde, Abdu Conte, Ike Ugbo, Giulian Biancone and Romenique Kouame.

There were bookings for Ruben Aguilar and Wissam Ben Yedder from Monaco, and Giulian Biancone and Romenique Kouame, for Troyes.

Monaco will next travel to Rennes, while Troyes will face RC Strasburg at home.
