AS Monaco 2-1 Lyon: Monaco make it back to back wins with victory over The Kids

Lyon on away loss to Monaco at the Stade Louis II on Sunday. Both Monaco and Lyon arrived on the back of wins. Monaco were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run, following a 1-0 victory against Nice whilst Lyon were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Angers SCO and Auxerre. Monaco and Lyon currently occupy 10th and 5th spots in the league, with 8 points and 13 points respectively after 7 matches.

Following a goalless first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on The Monégasques who started the second half strongly, when Benoit Badiashile gave them the lead, 55 minutes in. Monaco looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Guillermo Maripan, 63 minutes in to establish a 2-0. The Kids in turn, then responded, 81 minutes in, grabbing the lead with an effort from Karl Toko Ekambi, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Monaco included Malang Sarr, Ruben Aguilar, Wissam Ben Yedder, Ismail Jakobs and Gelson Martins for Guillermo Maripan, Vanderson, Breel Embolo, Aleksandr Golovin and Krepin Diatta, respectively. Lyon brought on Moussa Dembele, Rayan Cherki, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Romain Faivre for Maxence Caqueret, Thiago Mendes, Johann Lepenant and Corentin Tolisso.

The referee booked two players from Lyon, Castello Lukeba and Alexandre Lacazette.

Monaco will next travel to Reims, while Lyon will face Paris Saint-Germain at home.
