Angers 2-1 Montpellier: Boufal finds a winner for Le SCO after early exchanges

Angers SCO beat Montpellier with a 2-1 victory on Sunday at the Stade Raymond Kopa. Both teams came from defeats in their previous league games. Angers arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 5-0 to Lyon in their previous fixture, while Montpellier had lost their previous match against Lille. Angers are now in 19th place on the table and have 5 points while Montpellier sit in 8th with 9 points after 7 matches.

La Paillade started strongly in the first half, when Arnaud Nordin found the net after only 7 minutes. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Adrien Hunou equalised for Le SCO in the 9th minute, finishing the first half 1-1.

Angers rallied after this and were rewarded, when Sofiane Boufal found the net, 69 minutes in, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Angers included Abdoulaye Bamba, Lois Diony and Sada Thioub for Yann Valery, Abdallah Sima and Sofiane Boufal, respectively. Montpellier replaced Faitout Maouassa, Mamadou Sakho, Falaye Sacko, Joris Chotard and Teji Savanier for Wahbi Khazri, Maxime Esteve, Enzo Tchato, Beni Makouana and Leo Leroy.

There were bookings for Batista Mendy and Abdoulaye Bamba from Angers. For Montpellier, Bingourou Kamara, Leo Leroy, Jordan Ferri and Wahbi Khazri saw yellow.

Angers will next travel to Nice, while Montpellier will face RC Strasburg at home.
