Ajaccio 4-2 Strasbourg: L’ours triumph in six-goal thriller against the The Racers
RC Strasburg fell to an away defeat at the hands of AC Ajaccio at Stade Francois Coty on Saturday. Ajaccio were looking forward to playing again after losing their last match 1-0 to Auxerre. RCSA had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Olympique de Marseille. Ajaccio are now in 17th place, with 11 points from 14 matches, while RCSA sit in 18th, with 10 points from 14.
RCSA started the first half well, when Jeanricner Bellegarde found the net after only 6 minutes. The Racers looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Kevin Gameiro, 17 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However, Ajaccio refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Youcef Belaili on the 33 minute mark. The momentum was again with L’ours, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Mounaim El Idrissy in the 34th minute to establish a 2-2 result. L’ours looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a second effort from Youcef Belaili in the 40th minute to establish a 3-2. Ajaccio then scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Riad Nouri just before half-time and saw the first half out 4-2. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 4-2.
Substitutions for Ajaccio included Cyrille Bayala, Mickael Alphonse, Yoann Touzghar and Thomas Mangani for Youcef Belaili, Romain Hamouma, Riad Nouri and Mathieu Coutadeur, respectively. RCSA brought on Dimitri Lienard, Lebo Mothiba, Colin Dagba, Adrien Thomasson and Lucas Perrin, to replace Thomas Delaine, Ludovic Ajorque, Ronael Pierre-Gabriel, Sanjin Prcic and Maxime Le Marchand.
The referee booked Ronael Pierre-Gabriel, Thomas Delaine, Maxime Le Marchand and Colin Dagba for RCSA and Clement Vidal saw the red card, for Ajaccio.
Ajaccio will next travel to Nantes, while RCSA will face FC Lorient at home.
