Venezia 0 – Sampdoria 2: The Blue-circled ease past Arancioneroverdi at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo

Sampdoria enjoyed a mesmerising away victory against Venezia at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo on Sunday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Venezia were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last game 1-0 to Lazio. Sampdoria, on the other hand, lost 3-1 in the last match they played against Juventus. As it stands, Venezia are in 19th place on the table and has 22 points while Sampdoria sit in 15th with 29 points after 30 matches.
Sampdoria started strongly in the first half, with a goal from Francesco Caputo in the 24th minute. The Blue-circled then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a second effort from Francesco Caputo, 38 minutes in, finalising the first half 0-2. Both teams struggled to produce anything in the second half and the game ended 2-0.
For Venezia, Gianluca Busio, Jean-Pierre Nsame, Sofian Kiyine and Domen Crnigoj, came on for Luca Fiordilino, David Okereke, Nani and Tyronne Ebuehi. Sampdoria brought on Tomas Rincon, Fabio Quagliarella, Ronaldo Vieira, Tommaso Augello and Maya Yoshida, to replace Stefano Sensi, Antonio Candreva, Nicola Murru, Albin Ekdal and Omar Colley.
The referee booked Ridgeciano Haps, Thomas Henry, David Okereke and Gianluca Busio from Venezia and Thomas Henry (2 yellow cards) went off with a red card, while Sampdoria’s Abdelhamid Sabiri also received a yellow.
Venezia will next play Spezia Calcio away, with Sampdoria facing Roma at home.
