Venezia 1 – Genoa 1: Victory elusive at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo for both sides

On Sunday, Venezia and Genoa were held to a 1-1 draw at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo. Venezia were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match. Genoa secured a point against Salernitana in their previous match. As the table looks today, Venezia are in 17th place on the table and has 22 points while Genoa sit in 19th with 16 points after 26 matches.

Venezia started the first half well, with Thomas Henry finding the net at the 13 minute mark. However, their lead was short lived, as Caleb Ekuban equalised for The Griffin, 29 minutes in, to take a 1-1 lead into half time. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-1 at full time.

For Venezia, Tyronne Ebuehi, Dennis Johnsen, Maximilian Ullmann, Tanner Tessmann and Jean-Pierre Nsame, came on for Domen Crnigoj, Nani, Tyronne Ebuehi, Mickael Cuisance and Thomas Henry. Genoa replaced Johan Vasquez, Stefano Sturaro, Nicolo Rovella, Mattia Destro and Albert Gudmundsson for Leo Ostigard, Manolo Portanova, Kelvin Yeboah, Pablo Galdames and Filippo Melegoni.

There were bookings for Mattia Caldara and Ethan Ampadu from Venezia. For Genoa, Johan Vasquez and Stefano Sturaro saw yellow.

Venezia will next travel to Hellas Verona, while Genoa will face Internazionale at home.
