Venezia 1 – Atalanta 3: Visitors ecstatic after win at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo

Atalanta strolled past Venezia with a 3-1 win on Saturday at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Venezia were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Fiorentina. Atalanta lost 2-1 in the last match they played against Hellas Verona. As the table looks today, Venezia are in 20th place, with 22 points from 34 matches, while Atalanta sit in 8th, with 54 points from 34.

Atalanta started strongly in the first half, with Mario Pasalic finding the net at the 44 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Duvan Zapata just before half-time. The score at half time was 0-2.

The Goddess continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Luis Muriel finding the net at the 63 minute mark. Arancioneroverdi in turn, then responded in the 80th minute increasing their lead with an effort from Domen Crnigoj, leaving the final score at 3-1.

For Venezia, Dennis Johnsen, Domen Crnigoj, Dor Peretz, Jean-Pierre Nsame and Issa Bah, came on for David Okereke, Gianluca Busio, Mickael Cuisance, Thomas Henry and Mattia Aramu. Atalanta replaced Remo Freuler, Giorgio Scalvini, Mario Pasalic, Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel for Teun Koopmeiners, Merih Demiral, Jeremie Boga, Matteo Pessina and Moustapha Cisse.

The referee booked Giorgio Scalvini, Duvan Zapata and Berat Djimsiti for Atalanta.

Venezia will next travel to Juventus, while Atalanta will face Salernitana at home.
