Udinese 4 – Empoli 1: No mercy for Azzurri as Bianconeri take the points

On Saturday, Empoli suffer an away defeat to Udinese at the Stadio Friuli. Udinese were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Venezia away (2-1), the other to Cagliari at home (5-1). Empoli, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Spezia Calcio. After today’s result, Udinese are in 11th place, with 39 points from 33 matches, while Empoli sit in 14th, with 34 points from 33.

Udinese didn’t take long to start the rout, with Ardian Ismajli opening the rout early in the first half, seeing out the first half 1-0.

Bianconeri fought back, with Gerard Deulofeu finding the net, at 52 minutes. However, Azzurri weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Andrea Pinamonti, 70 minutes in. However, Udinese increased their lead with a Ignacio Pussetto goal at the 79 minute mark to make it 3-1. However they weren’t finished yet and Lazar Samardzic made it 4-1 just before the final whistle with a final score of 4-1.

For Udinese, Lazar Samardzic, Ignacio Pussetto, Mato Jajalo, Bram Nuytinck and Ilija Nestorovski, came on for Roberto Pereyra, Isaac Success, Walace, Nehuen Perez and Gerard Deulofeu. Empoli brought on Fabiano Parisi, Liam Henderson, Valerio Verre and Patrick Cutrone for Petar Stojanovic, Marco Benassi, Nedim Bajrami and Andrea La Mantia.

There were bookings for Nahuel Molina from Udinese. For Empoli, Ardian Ismajli, Petar Stojanovic, Filippo Bandinelli and Valerio Verre saw yellow.

Udinese will play their next fixture away against Bologna, while Empoli will face Napoli at home.
