Spezia 2-1 Sampdoria: Host snap winless streak by sinking Samp

Spezia Calcio’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria on Saturday, was hard fought at Stadio Alberto Picco. Both teams arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Spezia arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 1-0 to Napoli in their last match. Sampdoria were beaten 2-1 in their previous match against AC Milan. Spezia are currently 10th with 8 points from 7 matches, while Sampdoria sit in 19th, with 2 points from 7.

The Blue-circled started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Abdelhamid Sabiri gave them the lead on the 11 minute mark. However, their lead was short-lived, as Jeison Murillo equalised for Spezia on the 12 minute mark, finishing the first half 1-1.

Spezia once more applied the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, with a goal from M’bala Nzola in the 72nd minute, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Spezia included Kevin Agudelo, Petko Hristov, Albin Ekdal, Mikael Ellertsson and Mattia Caldara for Simone Bastoni, Arkadiusz Reca, Viktor Kovalenko, Ethan Ampadu and Emmanuel Gyasi, respectively. Sampdoria brought on Omar Colley, Ronaldo Vieira, Manolo Gabbiadini, Valerio Verre and Fabio Quagliarella, to replace Alex Ferrari, Gonzalo Villar, Mehdi Leris, Francesco Caputo and Filip Djuricic.

There were bookings for Simone Bastoni, Viktor Kovalenko, Mikael Ellertsson and M’bala Nzola from Spezia, and Alex Ferrari, Gonzalo Villar, Mehdi Leris, Filip Djuricic and Jeison Murillo, for Sampdoria.

Spezia will next play Lazio away, with Sampdoria facing AC Monza at home.
