Spezia 1-2 Fiorentina: Visitors steal the show at the Stadio Alberto Picco

Spezia on home loss to Fiorentina at the Stadio Alberto Picco on Sunday. Both Spezia and Fiorentina came from defeats in their previous league games. Spezia were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 1-0 to Salernitana. Fiorentina were beaten 4-3 in their previous match against Internazionale. Spezia are now in 16th place, with 9 points from 12 matches, while Fiorentina sit in 12th, with 13 points from 12.

Fiorentina started the first half well, when Nikola Milenkovic gave them the lead in the 14th minute. However, their lead was short-lived, as M’bala Nzola equalised for Spezia, 35 minutes in, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

The Purple One continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Arthur Cabral gave them the lead just before the final whistle. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for Spezia included Kelvin Amian, David Strelec and Petko Hristov for Arkadiusz Reca, Emil Holm and Emmanuel Gyasi, respectively. Fiorentina brought on Alfred Duncan, Riccardo Saponara, Arthur Cabral, Aleksa Terzic and Youssef Maleh, to replace Sofyan Amrabat, Giacomo Bonaventura, Luka Jovic, Dodo and Jonathan Ikone.

The referee booked nine players. Dimitrios Nikolaou, Emmanuel Gyasi, Albin Ekdal, Kelvin Amian and M’bala Nzola from Spezia, who saw yellow cards and Dimitrios Nikolaou, sent off with a red, as well as for Fiorentina Jonathan Ikone, Sofyan Amrabat and Youssef Maleh received yellows.

Fiorentina and Spezia will next play away to Sampdoria and AC Milan respectively.
