Sassuolo 1 – Roma 1: Home advantage cancelled out by visitors

On Wednesday, Sassuolo and Roma played out a 1-1 draw at the MAPEI Stadium. Both sides came from defeats in their previous league games. Sassuolo were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 1-0 to Empoli in their last match. Roma had lost their previous match against Lazio. Sassuolo are now in 13th place on the table and have 16 points while Roma sit in 5th with 26 points after 14 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Roma fought back the second half, when Tammy Abraham gave them the lead, at 80 minutes. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Andrea Pinamonti equalised for Neroverdi just before the final whistle. The match ended wih a 1-1 draw.

Substitutions for Sassuolo included Hamed Junior Traoré, Kristian Thorstvedt, Pedro Obiang, Domenico Berardi and Rogerio for Luca D’Andrea, Abdou Harroui, Maxime Lopez, Armand Lauriente and Giorgos Kyriakopoulos, respectively. Roma brought on Rick Karsdorp, Tammy Abraham, Stephan El Shaarawy, Edoardo Bove and Andrea Belotti, to replace Zeki Celik, Eldor Shomurodov, Nicola Zalewski, Cristian Volpato and Nicolo Zaniolo.

There were bookings for Armand Lauriente, Kaan Ayhan, Maxime Lopez, Giorgos Kyriakopoulos and Andrea Pinamonti from Sassuolo, and Nicolo Zaniolo, Bryan Cristante and Gianluca Mancini, for Roma.

Sassuolo will next play Bologna away, with Roma facing Torino at home.
