Sampdoria 0-1 Roma: Samp suffer a home defeat to in-form Giallorossi

Sampdoria fell to a home defeat at the hands of Roma at Luigi Ferraris on Monday. Sampdoria arrived with the intention of improving their league position after a 1-1 draw against Bologna whilst Roma were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Lecce and Internazionale. Sampdoria are now in 20th place on the table and have 3 points while Roma sit in 6th with 19 points after 10 matches.

Roma started the match strongly, when Lorenzo Pellegrini found the net in the 9th minute, ending the first half 1-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-0 at full time.

Substitutions for Sampdoria included Nicola Murru, Ignacio Pussetto, Valerio Verre, Fabio Quagliarella and Abdelhamid Sabiri for Tommaso Augello, Mehdi Leris, Tomas Rincon, Manolo Gabbiadini and Filip Djuricic, respectively. Roma brought on Nemanja Matic, Nicolo Zaniolo, Leonardo Spinazzola, Edoardo Bove and Rick Karsdorp, to replace Mady Camara, Tammy Abraham, Stephan El Shaarawy, Andrea Belotti and Nicola Zalewski.

There were bookings for Tomas Rincon, Valerio Verre, Ignacio Pussetto and Omar Colley from Sampdoria. For Roma, Roger Ibanez, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo Zaniolo saw yellow.

Sampdoria will next play Cremonese away, with Roma facing Napoli at home.
