Salernitana 2 – Venezia 1: granate jubilant after home win against Arancioneroverdi

Venezia fell to an away defeat at the hands of Salernitana at Stadio Arechi on Thursday. Salernitana wanted to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against Atalanta. Venezia were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Juventus. Following today’s result, Salernitana are in 17th place on the table and has 29 points while Venezia sit in 20th with 22 points after 20 matches.

Salernitana started the first half well, with Federico Bonazzoli giving granate the lead after only 7 minutes to see out the first half 1-0.

Arancioneroverdi took the lead in the second half, thanks to Thomas Henry finding the net at the 58 minute mark. Salernitana in turn, then responded at the 67 minute mark increasing their lead with an effort from Simone Verdi. The final result, Salernitana 2, Venezia 1.

For Salernitana, Simone Verdi, Grigoris Kastanos, Vid Belec, Matteo Ruggeri and Diego Perotti, came on for Federico Bonazzoli, Lassana Coulibaly, Luigi Sepe, Nadir Zortea and Milan Djuric. Venezia brought on Maximilian Ullmann, Gianluca Busio, Domen Crnigoj, Jean-Pierre Nsame and Dennis Johnsen, to replace Ridgeciano Haps, David Okereke, Dor Peretz, Michael Svoboda and Ales Mateju.

The referee booked Ederson and Emil Bohinen from Salernitana. Venezia had the worst of it though, with Pietro Ceccaroni, Ales Mateju, Michael Svoboda, Gianluca Busio, Ethan Ampadu and Thomas Henry seeing yellow, and Ethan Ampadu (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Venezia and Salernitana will next play at home to Bologna and Cagliari respectively.
