Salernitana 2 – Sassuolo 2: Points shared with visitors at Stadio Arechi

Salernitana were held to 2-2 draw by Sassuolo down on Saturday at Stadio Arechi. Salernitana were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Internazionale while Sassuolo were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Venezia and Fiorentina. As the table looks today, Salernitana are in 20th place, with 16 points from 29 matches, while Sassuolo sit in 10th, with 40 points from 29.

It was an impressive opening from granate, thanks to Federico Bonazzoli finding the net, 8 minutes in. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Gianluca Scamacca managed to equalize and take the sides off, 20 minutes in at 1-1. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Hamed Junior Traoré, at 30 minutes, finishing the first half 1-2.

Salernitana took the initiative in the second half, with Milan Djuric finding the net, at 81 minutes. The game ended wih a 2-2 draw.

For Salernitana, Ivan Radovanovic, Nadir Zortea, Diego Perotti, Luca Ranieri and Lys Mousset, came on for Ederson, Frederic Veseli, Grigoris Kastanos, Matteo Ruggeri and Simone Verdi. Sassuolo brought on Ruan, Gregoire Defrel, Matheus Henrique, Kaan Ayhan and Abdou Harroui for Vlad Chiriches, Gianluca Scamacca, Hamed Junior Traoré, Domenico Berardi and Davide Frattesi.

The referee booked Matteo Ruggeri and Luca Ranieri from Salernitana. Sassuolo had the worst of it though, with Domenico Berardi, Giacomo Raspadori and Maxime Lopez seeing yellow, and Giacomo Raspadori (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Salernitana will next travel to Juventus, while Sassuolo will face Spezia Calcio at home.
