Roma 2 – Salernitana 1: Visitors leave the Stadio Olympico with nothing

On Sunday, Salernitana suffer an away defeat to Roma at the Stadio Olympico. Roma were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Sampdoria away and Lazio at home, by 1-0 and 3-0 respectively. Salernitana, on the other hand, were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Torino. As the table looks today, Roma and Salernitana currently occupy 5th and 20th spots in the league, with 57 points and 16 points respectively after 32 matches.

granate started the game well, thanks to a goal from Ivan Radovanovic in the 22nd minute, finishing the first half 0-1.

Roma continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Carles Perez finding the net, at 82 minutes. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Chris Smalling just before the final whistle to make it 2-1.

For Roma, Nicolo Zaniolo, Nicola Zalewski, Carles Perez, Eldor Shomurodov and Jordan Veretout, came on for Marash Kumbulla, Stephan El Shaarawy, Felix Afena-Gyan, Sergio Oliveira and Bryan Cristante. Salernitana brought on Radu Matei Dragusin, Grigoris Kastanos, Nadir Zortea, Pawel Jaroszynski and Simone Verdi, to replace Luca Ranieri, Emil Bohinen, Joel Obi, Pasquale Mazzocchi and Franck Ribery.

There were bookings for Marash Kumbulla, Bryan Cristante, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Tammy Abraham and Rui Patricio from Roma. For Salernitana, Emil Bohinen, Milan Djuric, Norbert Gyomber, Franck Ribery, Luigi Sepe, Grigoris Kastanos, Nadir Zortea and Ivan Radovanovic saw yellow.

Next up, Roma are away to Napoli, whilst Salernitana will travel to face Sampdoria.
