Roma 0-1 Napoli: Osimhen scores stunning winner for Gli Azzurri

Roma were defeated at home by Napoli at the Stadio Olympico on Sunday. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Roma were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Sampdoria away (1-0), the other to Lecce at home (2-1). Napoli were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Bologna and Cremonese. Roma are now in 5th place on the table and have 22 points while Napoli sit in 1st with 29 points after 11 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Gli Azzurri continued to apply pressure in the second period, when Victor Osimhen gave them the lead, 80 minutes in. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for Roma included Andrea Belotti, Matias Vina, Nemanja Matic, Stephan El Shaarawy and Eldor Shomurodov for Tammy Abraham, Rick Karsdorp, Mady Camara, Gianluca Mancini and Leonardo Spinazzola, respectively. Napoli brought on Eljif Elmas, Matteo Politano and Gianluca Gaetano, to replace Tanguy Ndombele, Hirving Lozano and Piotr Zielinski.

There were bookings for Chris Smalling, Bryan Cristante and Roger Ibanez from Roma. For Napoli, Hirving Lozano, Tanguy Ndombele, Mathias Olivera and Stanislav Lobotka saw yellow.

Roma will play their next fixture away against Hellas Verona, while Napoli will face Sassuolo at home.
