Napoli 3 – Genoa 0: Gli Azzurri put 3 past The Griffin at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona

Genoa fell to an away defeat at the hands of Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Napoli were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Torino away and Sassuolo at home, by 1-0 and 6-1 respectively. Genoa were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-1 win against Juventus in their last match. Following today’s result, Napoli are in 3rd place on the table and has 76 points while Genoa sit in 19th with 28 points after 37 matches.

Gli Azzurri started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Victor Osimhen opening the rout, at 32 minutes. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0.

Napoli continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Lorenzo Insigne in the 65th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Stanislav Lobotka, 81 minutes in to make it 3-0.

For Napoli, Stanislav Lobotka, Piotr Zielinski, Faouzi Ghoulam, Diego Demme and Eljif Elmas, came on for Fabian Ruiz, Dries Mertens, Mario Rui, Andre Zambo Anguissa and Lorenzo Insigne. Genoa brought on Morten Frendrup, Hernani, Caleb Ekuban, Filippo Melegoni and Mattia Destro, to replace Milan Badelj, Silvan Hefti, Manolo Portanova, Pablo Galdames and Albert Gudmundsson.

There were bookings for Stanislav Lobotka from Napoli. For Genoa, Pablo Galdames saw yellow.

Napoli will next travel to Spezia Calcio, while Genoa will face Bologna at home.
