Lecce 1-2 Inter: Lukaku on target as Nerazzurri take points

Internazionale made a fine start in the new Serie A season with victory against Lecce. Today’s result, leave both teams on 0 points and sitting in 16th and 9th positions respectively, after their first match.

Inter started the match well, with an early goal from Romelu Lukaku in the 2nd minute to see out the first half 1-0.

Giallorossi started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from Assan Ceesay in the 48th minute. In the end though, Nerazzurri just before the final whistle took the victory following a Denzel Dumfries goal. The match ended with a 2-1 win for Inter.

Substitutions for Lecce included Alexis Blin, Lorenzo Colombo, Lameck Banda, Thorir Johann Helgason and Marcin Listkowski for Mert Cetin, Assan Ceesay, Federico Di Francesco, Joan Gonzalez and Kristijan Bistrovic, repectively. Inter brought on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alessandro Bastoni, Denzel Dumfries, Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa for Marcelo Brozovic, Robin Gosens, Matteo Darmian, Hakan Calhanoglu and Milan Skriniar.

There were bookings for Federico Baschirotto, Alexis Blin and Lorenzo Colombo from Lecce. For Inter, Marcelo Brozovic and Matteo Darmian saw yellow.

In the second round of action in the Serie A Lecce will play against Sassuolo away and Inter will play against Spezia Calcio at home.
