Napoli eased past Lazio in a 2-1 victory on Sunday at the Stadio Olympico. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Lazio arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against Udinese. Napoli had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Cagliari. As things stand, Lazio and Napoli are 7th, (43 points) and 3rd, (54 points), in the table respectively, after 27 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Gli Azzurri continued to pile on the pressure in the second, with Lorenzo Insigne finding the net at the 62 minute mark. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Pedro in the 88th minute brought The White and Sky Blues level. In the end though, Napoli just before the final whistle took the victory via a Fabian Ruiz goal, which sealed the victory for the visitors.

For Lazio, Pedro, Elseid Hysaj, Francesco Acerbi and Toma Basic, came on for Felipe Anderson, Stefan Radu, Patric and Lucas Leiva. Napoli brought on Eljif Elmas, Stanislav Lobotka, Adam Ounas and for Piotr Zielinski, Diego Demme, Matteo Politano and.

There were bookings for Stefan Radu, Ciro Immobile and Mattia Zaccagni from Lazio. For Napoli, Mario Rui and Fabian Ruiz saw yellow.

Lazio will next play Cagliari away, with Napoli facing AC Milan at home.
