Verona 3 – Venezia 1: The Yellow and Blues take all 3 points at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi

Venezia on away loss to Verona at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi on Sunday. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Verona wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Roma in their previous game. Venezia, on the other hand, secured a point against Genoa in their previous match. As it stands, Verona and Venezia are 9th, (40 points) and 18th, (22 points), in the league respectively, after 27 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Verona certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, thanks to a goal from Giovanni Simeone, 54 minutes in. The Yellow and Blues looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a effort from Giovanni Simeone at the 63 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However, Arancioneroverdi weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from David Okereke, 81 minutes in. Verona in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with a hat trick effort from Giovanni Simeone. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 3-1 to Verona.

For Verona, Federico Ceccherini, Kevin Lasagna, Daniel Bessa and Fabio Depaoli, came on for Panagiotis Retsos, Antonin Barak, Gianluca Caprari and Darko Lazovic. Venezia brought on Dennis Johnsen, Nani, Antonio Vacca, Jean-Pierre Nsame and Tanner Tessmann, to replace Mattia Aramu, Ridgeciano Haps, Domen Crnigoj, Thomas Henry and Gianluca Busio.

The referee booked Mattia Caldara for Venezia.

Verona will next travel to Fiorentina, while Venezia will face Sassuolo at home.
