Verona 1 – Genoa 0: Home win for The Yellow and Blues at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi

Hellas Verona snatched all three points from Genoa in a narrow 1-0 victory on Monday, at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi. Verona wanted to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against Empoli. Genoa had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 1-0 victory against Torino. As the table looks today, Verona and Genoa currently occupy 9th and 18th spots in the table, with 45 points and 22 points respectively after 31 matches.

Verona scored first, thanks to an early goal from Giovanni Simeone in the 5th minute, to take a 1-0 lead into half time. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-0 at full time.

For Verona, Fabio Depaoli, Martin Hongla, Bosko Sutalo and Gianluca Frabotta, came on for Darko Lazovic, Daniel Bessa, Davide Faraoni and Gianluca Caprari. Genoa brought on Pablo Galdames, Kelvin Yeboah, Nadiem Amiri, Roberto Piccoli and Caleb Ekuban, to replace Stefano Sturaro, Albert Gudmundsson, Manolo Portanova, Mattia Destro and Filippo Melegoni.

There were bookings for Federico Ceccherini, Adrien Tameze, Daniel Bessa and Nicolo Casale from Verona. For Genoa, Stefano Sturaro, Albert Gudmundsson and Silvan Hefti saw yellow.

Verona will next play Internazionale away, with Genoa facing Lazio at home.
