Empoli 2 – Juve 3: The Old Lady beat Azzurri at Carlo Castellani

Empoli on home loss to Juventus at Carlo Castellani on Saturday. Empoli were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last game 2-0 to Sampdoria. Juve secured a point against Torino in their previous match. As it stands, Empoli and Juve currently occupy 13th and 4th spots in the league, with 31 points and 50 points respectively after 27 matches.

Juve started strongly in the first half, with Moise Kean giving The Old Lady the lead at the 32 minute mark. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Szymon Zurkowski producing an equaliser, at 39 minutes, bringing Empoli level. Juve in turn, then responded just before half-time increasing their lead with an effort from Dusan Vlahovic, which saw the first half end 1-2.

Juve continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Dusan Vlahovic finding the net again, 66 minutes in. In the end though, Azzurri, 76 minutes in hit back though via a Andrea La Mantia goal, leaving the final score at 3-2.

For Empoli, Andrea La Mantia, Marco Benassi, Fabiano Parisi, Valerio Verre and Liam Henderson, came on for Federico Di Francesco, Filippo Bandinelli, Liberato Cacace, Nedim Bajrami and Petar Stojanovic. Juve brought on Manuel Locatelli and Alvaro Morata, to replace Denis Zakaria and Moise Kean.

The referee booked Ardian Ismajli and Fabiano Parisi for Empoli.

Empoli will next travel to Genoa, while Juve will face Spezia Calcio at home.
